lmao this place goes nearly dead for like a year and the next big burst of activity is a bunch of head scratching and picking at someone's brains for answers that don't exist. i love y'all. that isn't sarcasm, btw.

I just got moved into my new dorm and I'm still making sure that I have everything set up and together. The really fun part for this semester is that I'm finally going to have to deal with an indoor altar and trying not to set off the fire alarm b/c candles. Before you ask "why not LED battery operated candles?"--no. Those don't exactly work when you actually need the candle wax for stuff sometimes. The bigger problem still will be the incense. The religious sect I belong to strongly promotes a daily prayer with incense burning. It's a struggle.

Good luck with the internet situation, DeAngelus. Sorry to hear about it.

As for myself, it looks like I may finally be having a little bit of free time coming up. It won't be for very long, but I might be able to start posting things that aren't just comments. Yaaaay~

Ah, I know the feeling. Life likes to come around and kick me in the gut all the time. I can rarely do much for my personal hobbies unless I schedule it and work on it like, well, work. It's quite frustrating.

The Tavern / Re: Favorite Song?
« on: August 01, 2017, 09:59:36 pm »
This song has been in my top 25 most played on my iPod for years, and it just calmed me down from what could've been a panic attack. I have to give a standing ovation to my true favorite band. This song has helped me through some serious s--- in my past, and it saved me today, even if all it saved me from was the small event of struggling with a paper due tomorrow morning.

Rock on, B-T.

General MM Discussion / Re: What are your fatal flaws in art/writing?
« on: August 01, 2017, 08:49:19 pm »
Presently I seem to be having issues completing even small projects. I've tried doing short comics that shouldn't last beyond twenty pages and I've only ever finished one fanfic in my life that wasn't a oneshot--and it was only about 24k words. I plan to combat this by sucking it up and finishing something--starting with these projects I have to do for class.

I moved from PhotoBucket to Imgur, and forgive me if I'm not particularly keen on getting involved in DeviantART at all. Since it's a community, I'd want to participate in it as well, and I'm already on five forums. I also don't want to upload multiple places to share images. I'd rather keep them all in one place so I can keep better track of what's put where.

Soooo...sorry, I guess? It's really bizarre that your internet boots out imgur, though. You should really get that checked out.

(Also as a note my phone is a brick and no matter how many times I scrub the drive it refuses to recognize that it has space for anything, so I can't download any apps. Hell, my phone already gives me error messages because the Google Play Store doesn't have enough space to update.)

Hmm...I see what you mean about the neck. I think I was trying to show how it kind of folds if you have your head tucked down a little, but might've gone overboard. As for the body, I think the issue was that I was trying to make her not look unnaturally thin and wound up making the overall design unnaturally wide. As for her assets...that can answer Orchid's question as well:

The character's name is Emma Frost, and she is known for wielding her sexual prowess as a weapon, and it's implied that she uses her telepathic manipulation to cause some people to see her breasts as larger than they are for the sake of putting the ball in her quart and having an advantage. She's quite a character, and she teeters between her old villainous ways (she was in the Hellfire Club as the White Queen) and her new life as an X-Man (and Scott's new girlfriend, since Jean keeps dying, lmao). It really f---s with her head, too, and there was one run in particular, can't remember the name right off, where she was depicted with survivor's guilt because she knows she was a murderer. I can't explain why I love her so much, but I feel an immensely magnetic draw to her. I guess it's her sweet, juicy tragedy...and another thing that starts with a T, but that's inappropriate.

I think I prefer the implied smoke in the previous linework, because smoke is a living thing that moves around and expands, unlike the light from the phone. Having it in such a straight line doesn't seem natural.

I have had many misadventures dealing with that kind of idiot. People like to go super flatfooted, stomping down the hallway enough to vibrate the floor of my room. Just last night, after the playing black metal to drown out their ridiculous not-even-"singing"-along, I poked my head out of my room to say, loudly enough to fill the lobby space, "If y'all could figure out how to walk without stomping, that'd be great."

Other times I just take advantage of the fact that I know how to do death metal deep growls and black metal power fries to shout at them. Most notoriously, to a group of girls in my dorm last year, I shouted "I TOO CAN BE LOUD" in the lower growl scream. They proceeded to spend the next ten minutes or so making fun of it and trying to mimic the scream and doing it incorrectly. I hope one of them lost their voice, lmao.

Just about everybody around me on this floor of the dorm was hooting, hollering, and screaming while loudly playing pop music, so I took out my stereo on max volume and tried "Dam Dadi Doo", "Caramelldansen", and "Rickroll" before finally settling on (parental advisory) this:
"Use Once and Destroy" by Psyclon Nine

...and, unsurprisingly, after that, they cut it out. I am victorious!

Now that my tablet is back in order, what's the first thing I do?
Draw Emma Frost, ofc, because I am trash.

Please pardon the fact that I am on my laptop and the only art program I have installed at the moment is the version of MSPaint that came with the OS. My guideline sketches poke through in a lot of places because I don't have a number pad "-" to use the MSPaint command to make the eraser any smaller than I could get it.

Hmm...not much to add here. I really like how you imply smoke, though. It's a neat technique.

If the guy is lying down and injured, I don't see any reason for his leg to be up like that. I also think that the female (Erica?)'s right leg (our left) is too much in profile for the pose with her body, especially her hips, facing forward. Turning it just a little bit to face forward slightly will make it look more natural.

Outside of that, I really can't complain about anything here. Everything else I see will probably be fixed in the finalized lineart (like the cigarette looking not completely in her mouth).

I mean, the work has improved from the first post here in 2015. That's the mark of someone doing something right. Even if it's just a slow incline of progress, it shows that you're taking the time to understand your own work, and that in and of itself is an advanced mindset.
