Well you asked.. I hope you learn not to do that any more.

Favorite song.. My, how elementary school. Is this like favorite color or best friend?

For "been there, done that"
Massive gym workouts: Ministry. Just one fix.. then other high energy rage based ****.
Planting dead friends? Ray Charles "I can't stop loving you. "Amazing grace" on bags for the cops (this is for the only cop I know, who has not tortured me for fun) , after that is just their favs.
Not angry or depressed? Offspring, Greenday, King of the road (song), Electric6 (gay bar).

Each time I walk to my death*? It varies between melancholy and mania. In the end it doesn't matter as it just has to stop or get off its ass and kill me.

Meh, you know how it goes.

*Going to my death.
Ray Charles " I can't stop loving you" Allowed me to cry and accept what was going to happen. It was a moment of grace in my life... I lived. again. I do not know what is going on at this point.
Ministry "Just one fix". Already angry, hadn't hit the gym in days, and then found a rapist I was hunting. **** his .38! it was party time.
Planning your own suicide, Pink Floyd and then a bridge jump. The fact you swam below to scout means you were never serious. The fact 10+ of your friends followed you..
a "Guy with a .357 is here and going to kill everyone!", Meh more Ministry. Should have killed him but didn't. So I carry the life of the nobody he killed the next night. For the rest of time I have to carry this.
Walking into the middle of knife fights.. meh, we are all friends here and it hasn't killed me yet. (personal best.. 21 stitches)

Thanks. I was having a hard time finding that band.

I think you're referring to the band: A Skylit Drive. they have the song "Knights of the Round" and the album that the song was on is called Wires...And the Concept of Breathing. Their first lead singer definitely sounded like a female, but he was male.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhTVY-KvwGc

They have pretty good music. I personally enjoy Circa Survive though.

Idk if this is the right place to ask this but I've been looking for a band I used to like and I can't remember the name of this bamd. I was wondering if anyone could help me.

The lead singer is either female or looks/sounds female

There is a background screamo vocalist

I think I remember a song called Dark Knight or Black Knight.

The album I'm thinking of is a little long but has the words "choking" or "Can't Breathe" something like that.

If anyone could help me out with the band name of appreciate it.

This song has been in my top 25 most played on my iPod for years, and it just calmed me down from what could've been a panic attack. I have to give a standing ovation to my true favorite band. This song has helped me through some serious s--- in my past, and it saved me today, even if all it saved me from was the small event of struggling with a paper due tomorrow morning.

Rock on, B-T.

The topic is pretty old but I figured I'd put some life into it.
I like almost everything done by Alkaline Trio. Their songs just resonate with me on so many levels for some reason.
My favorite of theirs is '**** You Aurora.'

Lately I've been listening to a lot of Psyclon Nine's "Parasitic". It's a crazy track, and their style is definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but the lyrics appeal to me since they strike like angry poetry (much like the secret link in my signature, actually...)

Warning: Video contains many flashing lights.

But yeah, here's the garbage I've been stuffing my ears with.

MR user Manimal has gotten into music composition and creation. He has quite a lot of stuff on soundcloud, and although admittedly the boy's vocals need a lot of work, they're really fun tracks and I find myself jamming to them. I'll just give him a little bump (https://soundcloud.com/deepspacenoise/canadian) here.

I get that some of you guys might not be interested in anything going on at MR, but it's worth sharing, I feel.

My friend introduced me to a new band that mixes melodic death metal/core with pop elements and actually succeeds. It sounds a lot to me like how the rock tracks from RWBY try to be, except they actually sound good to me. (Nothing against the RWBY soundtrack, but I always felt like something was missing from it, like it was incomplete or something.) It's called Amaranthe, and right now I'm listening to their album The Nexus, which has a lot of good stuff.

I have a knack for finding metal bands with female vocalists. I also discovered Arven, Valora, and Delain. But, as for today, I'm just promoting this album.

A couple years back on MR I made a thread about why I hated hilsters. But I would like to add to the opinion that Hipsters had a completely different meaning in 2000s, it was around 2010s that the word has transformed for more overly trendy and desperate types of people who are obsessed with staying on trend.

That said never listened to SFH but that song has that older style so I can see what you mean.

When I was younger I would listen to Evanescence, Cryoshell, and Within Temptation. I still have there songs.

Today I was listening to Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap.

I have a hard time finding music like this, so if anyone has similar music, please share.

I was listening to Two Cups of Tea by SFH. Reminds me before when being a hipster wasn't a big deal.

Today's song seems to be "Ruina Imperii" from Sabaton, which is a Carolean death march written in Old Swedish. Beautiful glory metal.

you will have preferences between colors, songs, etc moment by moment, day by day, year by year, this is not a static thing for those who think.
No identity involved.

This is why I keep coming back to this thread roundabouts once a day to say more of what my "song of the day" is since I can't really pick a solid favorite on anything. I recognize that my "favorites" are very mood-based.

Why don't we list our favorite songs here?

Here is some of my favorite songs:

Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Part 1 by the Flaming Lips

Welcome to the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance

The A Team by Ed Sheeran

When You Were Young By the Killers

Some early 2000s songs.
I know you are young but after a while, when you think about it, you will have preferences between colors, songs, etc moment by moment, day by day, year by year, this is not a static thing for those who think.
No identity involved.
I do not know how you value fitting in (my opinion on those who need you to conform is "**** OFF!!!!"). "Normal" is a high level insult as far as I am concerned;' beats **** any day of the week.

Right now I'm having an old school moment and blasting Jim Carrol's "People who died". So yeah during these moments I do things.
Right now I'm going to wake my brother and have him take me to the worst place in the state and i will fight crime.
Do not try to understand me, do not feel sorry for me. This is what I have become. I'm still alive but my death wish means I will probably never make it to 100.

You did not want to know that.

Only ask questions when you can handle the answers, that is the game.

Do not feel sorry for me.  Harvest what you know and use it for a character in the future. That is what I do with everyone I talk to.

Well off to punish the bad people.
Don't worry, I'll be back.. I always am and I do not know why.

My mom said the reason I always live is because I'm God's favorite. She is devout I'd like to know that she knows that Jesus was not God's favorite and what she said is not the world's biggest compliment.

I ask her who God's favorite was and her brain locked and she changed the subject.

No, Tara, I'm more of an alto. Have you heard the verses of "Going Under"? They're lower than her falsetto. I have a voice more suited to rock because of the way sound comes through my chest, and I hate singing high because I can't get the same power in falsetto, although when I do sing falsetto, I have to warm up, and it comes out more softly, more suited to things like lullabies, which isn't really my thing.

As far as rock music looking for vocals are concerned, definitely look into Within Temptation if you're interested. I'd start with "Deceiver of Fools" from their early style or "Our Solemn Hour", and then unto "Sinead" for something a little later.

I have that problem so much with Pandora that I don't even use it. I know what I like and I'll listen to a song on recommendation if I'm in the mood, but usually I'll just ignore things that are recommended because I already have so many songs in my music library.

Yesterday's song was "Miss Nothing" by the Pretty Reckless and today's...I don't really have a song stuck in my head but I really enjoyed when "Sand Ruins" from the Sonic Riders OST came on my iPod. I learned that dancing jumpstyle in Walmart makes people look at you funny, but I mean, sometimes you just gotta dance, man.

I use Pandora but for some reason it always recommends me the Black Keys and The White Stripes. I'm not a fan of either of them. Does anyone here have similar problem?

As far as Evanescence goes, I prefer "Going Under", which more matches my singing range and style, and "Imaginary".

You say you like lyrical and poetic music that you can sing to...are you sure you aren't interested in things like power metal? Like, not all metal is "angry". That's a very general and incorrect stereotype. Not that I'm going to like, force songs on you, but if you're interested, I can point you towards some recommendations.

Anyway, this morning, One-Eyed Doll's "Envy" is stuck in my head. Interestingly, one of my exes from high school's father was in a band, and they were old friends with the main two members of One-Eyed Doll. Indirectly knowing somebody "famous" is cool.

Sadly, for some reason, even when I do a normal URL coding, it provides the video instead of the link anyway.

Oh honey, I am all sorts of legitimate masochist. I just prefer to keep my emotions stable. That's a whole nother discussion in and of itself, though.

Today's song is probably https://youtu.be/TDT2hGG_0-I (https://youtu.be/TDT2hGG_0-I)

Fix you by Coldplay

I personally can't listen to that song with getting a tight chest. It calls up some old feelings. I thought I could, but that didn't turn out well. I do have it on my iPod though, just in case I want to be a masochist some day.

My favorite songs are:

In the Aeroplane over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel

Fluorescent Adolescent by Arctic Monkeys

Fix you by Coldplay

And

Motion Picture Soundtrack by radiohead.

So far those are the songs I can listen to almost everyday. I'll post more songs as time goes by.

I enjoy entirely too many things to have a favorite, and my "favorites" tend to come in cycles of what songs I'm listening to the most for a course of about a couple of weeks. Right now it's Terminal Choice's "I Kissed Her". It's so atmospheric, and it could put me to sleep.

Of course, there's also the song linked in my signature (Angelspit's "Infect") which I like on the basis of the word choice. It's not currently on my recent trending favorites, though. Again, it's more atmospheric, but that song is much, much angrier and the lyrics are quite...in-your-face and blasphemous, depending on your views, but I enjoy how well it was executed. I also like the similar execution in the song "Wreak Havoc" by the same band.

It's not like all of my favorite music is slow and angry. It's just that most of them right now are.
