I made this thread so we can review manga and anime series that we watched/read back when we were young. Sometimes when we read something the first time, it's amazing but reading it now may feel different or noticed something you didn't notice before.
Enigma retrospective review
Enigma was a very interesting manga. THE beginning is about a group of students trapped in the school and must get out in order to live and get what they want. Of course all of them have a weird unusual power. It was smart and really made me think about how they'll move forward. Often times the decisions we're the most unconventional and it was those unconventional that was needed to solve the problem.
But as I reread it, the manga felt completely different. Perhaps it has to do with reading it when it was ongoing but too much was happening too fast. At first I assumed that it was because I was reading too many mangas at once and I just couldn't remember it all. But that's not the case.
Enigma has a very good concept but it's fatal flaw is that it rushes. It rushes so much. Even the first chapters could've used a little more exposition or background on the main character just enough to feel settled in.
I don't feel any empathy for the characters and they figured things out way too quickly. Some of them are great but others just felt like they took up space.
If there was more buffer between chapters and see more of their critical thinking, then I think this manga would've easily been serialized outside of Japan (and maybe even continue as there we're rumors of cancellation).
