Pretty self-explanatory. What are you reading? What have you just finished? What are you planning to read soon?
Recently finished Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden which was quite good, with a very nuanced and detailed historical understanding of its subject, a morally foreign, yet also, in some aspects, beautiful, cultural phenomenon in Japan. The prose has the feeling of being translated, but without sacrificing the musicality of the language.
I am currently reading 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. It's a bit strange from the start considering it ping-pongs between the perspective of two seemingly unrelated characters with seemingly unrelated conflicts, but as things begin to pick up, it gets very addicting. It's a very long book, and I'm almost halfway through.
I'm also reading Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. It seems to be a very carefully put together narrative with information revealed at a very intentional pace, so I'm not sure how much I can give away about it. It's good so far, though.
I've got Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace waiting when I finish the rather short Never Let Me Go.

I've not read a single thing recently. I actually stopped reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I should get back on it.

Reading has been a stop and go thing for me for a couple years, though it's mostly been go since the summer. I've been able to keep myself reading since then by reading two novels at once, different enough to accommodate whatever varying moods I might have in terms of what I want to read. That might help you if you need motivation to get back into it.

I really want to read Murakami's novels, first need to find some first
Right now I am about halfway through The Neverending Story by Michael Ende. It is amazing and intriguing. Sure it may be considered a children's novel, but as an adult I find the themes and concepts are meant for mature readers.
I have almost a hundred books to read, but next will probably be either Tolkien's The Hobbit or Nineteen Eighty Four by George Orwell.

I'm ridiculously behind on my reading. School got hectic with finals and such.
So I'm still reading 1Q84 which is pretty long anyway. Despite my slow reading speed, the further I get into it, the more I fall in love with Murakami's style. I've taken influence from him in several of my lyrics.
Finished Never Let Me Go quite a while ago, as it's pretty short. The sci-fi and dystopia elements were refreshingly subtle. It's also quite sad. :'( But I liked it a lot. Lots of emotion went into it without it being too edgy. It was muted, and kept the tension tightly wound and under wraps until the end.
I've got several books I want to move onto after 1Q84. More Murakami, Infinite Jest, a book of Chekhov short stories, etc.

I have no time to read any books at all lately. I have been reading stories on wattpad, but most of the stories are just like in fan fiction.net

TBF I actually did read the Boogiepop Phantom light novel not too long ago. It was an interesting little read. I enjoyed the way the writer was able to accomplish setting a mood that worked even through the translation.

As an English Major, I've been required to read a lot of books here lately, and too many short stories to count. Right now I'm working on A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. It's an interesting read, but it's so long. The world-building and characterization are amazing, though, and the juvenile nature of the conversations and games is a fantastic representation so far, although I only just got to chapter four.
Before that, we read The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien. It's an interesting novel in that it can either be read as a novel of flashbacks or a collection of short stories. In either case, O'Brien takes the time to comment on the writing process within the pages of the stories, using himself as a character to explain things that never actually happened to him, but how memory helps draw imagination. The sole Veteran in our class was very proud of how the overall work was what it was without covering anything up. I, meanwhile, was reminded of some of my own pains and losses, because pain is something universal, and literature can be a way to call up things in the strangest of ways.
And then there are the two books we started out with: Toni Morrison's The Bluest Eye and Paul Beatty's The White Boy Shuffle. I'm currently working on doing a compare and contrast paper regarding the language between the two and how each one is effective in its own right. Both were a little hard to read in their own ways, The Bluest Eye because of its subject matter, and The White Boy Shuffle because the entire second half of the book gets rather absurd.
I did say that I'd post about what I was reading at some point, so there you go. I'd recommend all of these depending on what criteria someone is looking for. Like, if you have a long flight to somewhere and want to be entertained, definitely opt for A Prayer for Owen Meany, because you'll probably reach your destination before you finish it, unless you're some kinda massive speedreader like a friend of mine who can go three to four lines at a time.
