Why do I get the vague feeling that that was a thinly veiled jab at me?

Ah, I was making a joke about myself and how I used to type in all red here. I think it shows up fine, so I never thought it was an issue, but since someone pointed out that the contrast doesn't work well, I've cut it out. I hadn't realized that it was an issue, and I am the precedent for this thread to exist. I do still love the color red, but I've stuck it as a line or two in my signature rather than a whole post as something of a compromise. I don't want to hurt people's eyes.

I'm glad that you're pointing this out, though, so now if a new member comes along, they can learn from my mistake and be a little more sensitive to others.

I always remind myself of the rules of individuality , for this case 'What may work for you may not for the others' . That's why I get why standards exists , so that it works for the majority and minimizing the negativeness to the ones that don't and for this case , I can easily fall in that minority .

I'm once guilty of doing such act a long time ago - painting my whole text a bright cyan and stylizing my fonts with either Monotype Corsiva or a custom-made Gothic style font (from what I recall , it's very stylized that it can be unreadable to a lot) , almost to a point of addiction . As I grew older and revisited the old posts , I find it a pain to my eyes and even a staff told me to not use it excessively due to multiple reasons or I might get banned (Don't know why they kept quiet during most of that time though) . I used to get mad at it at first but as I grew older , I can see why now and my ever deteriorating eyesight caused by looking at my own posts (and they're almost always scrollie long) supports the reasons . Being considerate and moderate at that moment till now , I no longer do stuffs that only satisfies my personal taste only .

If my colors are too much, let me know. I really enjoy colors but on my posts. Just on making my story stand out more.

I made the guideline just in case people were becoming bothered by it. I didnt know it would spark a bigger conversation.

Everyone still has the freedom to use whatever color they like. But I'm trying to make sure everyone doesn't get bothered. I really made it as a precaution as I saw other forums go crazy with the colors and some impossible to read.

I wholly agree to your decision on this and sorry for the whole debate on this that got a little too heated .

Yep, the eye scorching red is hard to read.

Like I said it was mostly based on what I saw in other forums. I did extra research on what colors to avoid too. Red itself was one of the colors that invokes anxiety.

But this Guideline still is to help others in the future as I'm more worried about colors that can't be read on black background.

I think all that needed to be said has been said. We should drop it and move on.

Orchid had the stones to mention it. (the last stone is like 600 lbs right?)
The rest of us were passively polite.
We were cowards, Orchid was not.

Now if someone wants to open a char dev thread on how this all happened..
Sexy.

Every writer needs a deep deep understanding of social engineering.

A huge shout out to those who didn't make it a bug deal. If it is a problem, you can always let me know ahead of time.

It's best not to act like a mod because if you do see a problem and the only thing you can do is let them know, then a whole fight could break out when a real mod can fix it.
