The truth is I'm not sure I would be able to implement such a system. Forums tend to have their own ways of working.

It would be something completely manual. Perhaps a thread where I could keep track of it all and only admins and mods can view it. But only admins can see the heat on the mods????

Is that something better?

The heat system was designed for everyone to see so they can prevent problems. Not to keep it hidden. Because if its hidden, no one knows who is more tolerant than others.

How about this. Its important we keep it simple and slowly add to it when the time comes:

1. If there is an issue, members cannot pick and choose their reviewers. However they can report them if they get out of hand. But they have to take the defusing steps in order to report anyone for misunderstandings. So we make certain aspects of the guideline mandatory in order for reporting.

2. Members gain minor infractions for these kind. But major ones are caused by breaking the rules. If two major infractions occur, we ban for 1 week, then 2, then 1 month, and after the 1 month ban, we make indefinite bans.

I know Orchid wants a "second chance" option so i was thinking we take second chances after 1 year of being banned indefinitely. And if they ruin that second chance, thats it, no more. You're done.

One year is far too long for such a thing. >=Six months is more than enough time.

This sounds more complicated than it needs to be, Lorenx.

Perhaps there could just be a self-rate option that shows what level of critique a person is willing to take, and could be shown under usernames on the forum?

Another alternative would be to introduce thread tags, which allows users to indicate their expected critique level?

Just some thoughts.

We should probably take a break from trying to come up with ideas so early.

Its giving me a headache.

you had a pretty lengthy comment. I'm sure it was hard to keep up. I don't know if this forum can have an infraction system. But i don't think the problem is figuring out how to punish members, its more on trying to control the focus of the forum.

MR and DA are areas that have free reign and no matter what, even if they gain more members, they wouldn't care how those sites change.

I made a proposal of rules for MM specifically designed for how Moderators should handle things. One of  Orchid's ideas however is having a "second chance" are for members to repent and try to come back. I think its a decent idea depending on the member.
It's a bad habit that I need to cut down ...

Yes , it seems a bit easier to say than to implement it & yes , I know you're talking about the focus on reviews , especially on receiving end of it . My attempt is to generalize it out . At least I tried ... *shudders*
Edit: and to tell it to everyone straight: I'he never been a forum founder before. I really liked the idea and went with it. I'm also talking to forum building forums about it. So I'm sorry if it seems like I'm being unresponsive.
Eh ? You're talking about this ?

Your quick reply seems unresponsive at times ...
If so , I'm not talking about you , I'm talking about the site . Quoting do not prompt an automatic opening of the quick reply (though it'll be there when opened manually) & at times , I need to click on it multiple times just to get it opened . Sorry if you interpret it differently >~<" !

I am not sure how i feel about Moderators. sometimes they do their job well and make sure they don't add fire. And other times they don't do their job until its too late. And this is what gets to me the most.
Rules of individuality . Some aren't just cut out to be one but is forced to hold one ...

The heat system was designed for everyone to see so they can prevent problems. Not to keep it hidden. Because if its hidden, no one knows who is more tolerant than others.
What I'm aiming for is 'transparency' in the system's depiction , something that is very open to anyone viewing it . Also , I'm aiming for a more generalized assumption when I made that suggestion . That way , they won't know (Guest , mainly) if such offense they've obtained had to do with them being offended by reviews or not , like a minor fender bender . If anything , my suggestion is to make sure they do not have that sure ammunition & fuel required to invoke a trolling/cyberbullying act against them ... at least , not instantaneous .

I agree with that , one year is so long , I don't think the user would even be bothered to return anymore , even if it do expire .

We should probably take a break from trying to come up with ideas so early.

Its giving me a headache.

As with idea the first question is "how does this go wrong?"
While I like HOT>HOTTER>HOTTEST>ACTION JACKSON as ranks there is a problem with ranking.
You take your Sneetchs and leave some with bare bellies and one star to some, two starts to others, and 3 stars to a few.. Dr Seuss says there will be problems.
Cliques will happen.
People will try to game the system.
What if you only review heat level 3 people? Does this increase your heat even if you give great reviews (at least great for someone at Heat 0). If you give heat for reviewing the heat loses meaning.
If you have cool at a glance info like Icy picture frame > embers drifting past picture frame>  Camp fire picture frame > conflagration picture frame, then people may just go for the one that they like.
Obvious trolling targets are obvious. Heat 3 is a nudge from gone. Challenge accepted!
Caste system
etc

I say gently cattle prod them into being adults. I do not care about age, I just want adult behavior.

Now who is this swordvillian16? Did I miss juicy drama? Was this the 13 year old? Oh what happened? Would this make a good reality show? 10 manga writers in a room, the reality show "Oh noes, there is no way we will get this project done on time!"... god I hate "reality" TV.
Meh, if it is who I think, I give you no style points. None, nada, zero, zilch, less than any. If I wanted style points I would have said "an author named Trisomy21".  If you want to be cruel just talk above their head, it is an art form.

i honestly wasn't trying to gian any points on being clever, if anything its me holding back from using their actual name.

But regardless, i don't want another "Manga raiders" where members get penalized for providing a review, and people can't handle it.
